National Rifle Association – Basic Pistol Course

PHASE I:

You can expect to learn the following:

  1. Lesson I: Pistol Knowledge and Safe Gun Handling.
  2. Lesson II: Ammunition Knowledge and the Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting Learning.
  3. Lesson III: Shooting Positions and Shooting Qualifications.
  4. Lesson IV: Scoring Targets, and Selecting and Maintaining Your Pistol
  5. Lesson V: Continued Opportunities for Skill Development
  6. No live ammunition in the classroom!

Once you pass the final online exam with a (90%) for this segment, contact me to schedule your range-based portion to complete your certificate.

Phase 2:

Includes an instructor-led portion and firing the gun on a gun range.  You must meet the minimum qualifications to pass. 

  1. Firearm and Range Safety.
  2. Fundamentals
  3. Loading, Cocking, De-Cocking, Unloading and Pistol Maintenance.
  4. Shooting positions and shooting qualifications.
  5. Fundamentals of Pistol Shooting.
  6. NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting Course Evaluation.

To complete this class, you must pass the written exam from Phase I, complete the Performance Evaluation Checklist satisfactorily, and pass the minimum firearms qualification course from 10 feet with Phase II.

Classroom time will be provided for participants to practice shooting the course qualification.  NO LIVE AMMO WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE CLASS. 

Victory Training, LLC will provide laser guns that look and feel like real guns to practice.  Range rules are still adhered to while practicing with the Laser Guns.

Each participant must provide their Hand Gun and at least 200 Rounds of Factory Ammunition (NO RELOADED AMMUNITION PERMITTED).  Handgun calibers between .22 and .45 Calibers will be permitted.

Completing this course will enable you to apply for your Conceal Carry Permit.

Any participant who fails to follow the range rules and/or demonstrates unsafe behavior during the class will be dismissed from the program.

No Refunds are given.

Blended Learning = Course presentation is completed online, and practical tests will be conducted in person.

Course Length is approximately 10 to 12 Hours.

On-line computer learning in the convenience of your home that will last approximately 6-8 hours and approximately 2-4 hours of hands-on application and qualifications at the gun range

Courses outside of Pueblo may include a mileage and per diem fee.  Mileage is based upon the IRS recommended rate of .55 cents per mile round trip. All fees will be split between all course participants. All book and supply fees are non-refundable and must be paid during registration. Class registration fees and all applicable taxes may be paid with the book and supply fees, or you may pay the remaining fees at the start of the class. Cash and Credit Cards are accepted.
